I'm in Kunming! It's a city in Yunnan province, and tomorrow we're flying out at 6:50 to go somewhere else in the same province to climb a mountain. w00t.
Things to note about Kunming, it's got "lovely" weather, theoretically, but I found all the sunshine to be just a eye-sore, personally. It's got a very unique stone forest which is the remains of an old under-ocean area that's got these huge rock pillars that have been carved by rain and time, etc. etc. Will be posting pictures later. If this seems rushed, I've only got 13 minutes to check my email, update livejournal, research about jade on wikipedia (which I can fortunately get) and spend close to 600 turns in KoL. =)
More on Kunming, which was the topic originally before I deviated from it. They eat dogs here. It's dusty. It's a very...laid-back kind of town in a general sense of the word. Not nearly as laid back as say, Austin, or San Fransisco, but definitely less busy than any of the other towns I've been to so far.
Well, other than that, I've lost 2-4 kilos since leaving Taipei, yay! It's only 2-4 because I don't know how precise these scales are, and there's always the rough guessing of just how close that needle is to one number or another. But I attribute this weight loss mainly to my NOT drinking soda, eating rice, eating bread, or snacking on the big bag of chocolate that my mom sent me to China with. Seriously, a tour through China, if you can control the urge to eat snacks, is one of the easiest ways to get through an Atkin's diet first week...not that I know much about that. Anybody with more info??? But an example is at dinner, aside from the inevitable bowl of rice, there's very little starch/bready/carbohydraty stuff to eat at all. And since I've cut out Coke (which is awfully sweet here in China) and rice, I've been, well, not slimming down, but at least I think there's been some improvement from the weight gain that I got immediately from entering Taipei. (whew)
Well, I have other things to do quickly, so I sign off. Ja!
