is it alright if we sometimes fill prompts with things that don't really fall in the noir genre, but are still inspired by the prompts? (i've never done a ficathon before, so i'm not really sure on how flexible these sorts of things are, sorry. i know the rules say it's pretty flexible, but i figured i should maybe ask anyway.)

I'm, um, going to tentatively say yes? That will be revised if suddenly all of the fills become non-noir fills, but one or two shouldn't be a problem. Really, with ficathons, I see the theme as a way to guide prompts/fills and to get a lot of fic inspired by that, hopefully, and not, like, ridiculously strict. Hope that helps. :)
