[She's just shaking her head]

[Pats herself down then pulls a handkerchief out of her pocket, offering it to Reika.]

[Reika hesitates, then takes it]

[Crouches down next to her and hugs her knees.] So, what happened?

[She's smiling almost bitterly] The ritual failed.

Ohhhh... [Suddenly Reika's Crazy Talk makes a little more sense.] How?

The ritual is meant to subdue a sort of... Gateway to hell. I was meant to take on people's pain in the form of tattoos, and sleep with it forever to appease the gate. But Kaname... Kaname came to see me one last time. But it was forbidden and so they... They killed him, and the tattoos entered my eyes, and everything - the pain, the malice, it was all released.

[DDDD:] That's awful! And no wonder. I don't think anyone would've been able to complete a ritual like that if they knew the person they cared for most was going to be killed.
