There does exist somewhere the bare-bones of a Middleman story that I fiddled with as a potential Yuletide entry (I ended up going with a Castle story), but ended up abandoning due to time constraints. I've actually been prodding at it recently (see: yesterday) and am thinking that it'll be a good way to distract myself on a transatlantic flight where I'm not going to be able to eat any of the food (upon querying AA about their 'special' meals, it appears that the concept of 'dairy-free' has escaped them, and they're not sure whether or not the flight I'll be on will have a vegan option--I have to check when I check in on the day, oy), because, uh, it's a complicated story.

Well. It's a simple plot idea that is almost entirely complicated by the fact that it's going to be told in an entirely ridiculous fashion: linear in the fact that it's going to be following Wendy Watson around on a case, but Wendy herself is going to be entirely non-linear compared to the rest of the world. If I do it properly, I should actually be able to present it in two formats: the linear story from Wendy's perspective, and the linear story from the perspective of everyone else. /evillaugh
