1) DS_Match, aka the fic competition of AWESOMENESS, has posted all of the first string stories. The voting is open until September 19th, so you've got plenty of time to catch up on reading over at ds_flashfiction and vote whimsy! ds_team_root are hosting a bunch of fun and games revolving around the Match stories (pin the first line to the last line, match up the stories to summaries, guess the authors) and ds_recsredux is still running the Match Recvitational- rec your favourite(s) from the Match and share the love! The top reccers are in the running to receive prizes, as made by members of the Match teams. YAY!

2) Yesterday I caught the train down to Dover, met C at the train station and then drove up to Ramsgate, where we descended on a mutual university friend and her dog-sitting dog. Our task, should we choose to accept it, was to wear out the dog. We ended up wandering around Pegwell nature reserve for many hours. I may have bewildered C and L with my ability to identify British wildfowl. Also, we saw seals sunbathing on the beach! A very nice couple with high-resolution telescopes let us have an up close look. So very cute.

3) After Pegwell, the tide was out, so we took the dog (still bouncy) down onto the port-side beach for some serious scrambling around in sludgy sand and slippery rocks. Rockpooling is really kind of fun. There were lots of crabs (assorted sizes), even more sand-skippers, more wildfowl for me to identify, and--of course-- vast quantities of shellfish (mussels, limpets, the occasional oyster and razorshell) attached to the limestone shelves.

4) In direct consequence of this, I am sunburned like a very sunburned thing. With silly strap marks from my cross-shoulder bag, vest top and bra. *slathers on more aftersun and aloe gelly*

5) Last night was spent in Dover with C. Much dessert was consumed in the restaurant attached to the Holiday Inn (I think--I'd had quite a lot of wine and some cider by this point) on the seafront.

6) This morning (late. Very late. Aha) saw a pair of slightly hungover people making the trek back up to my part of Kent in order to have lunch at the verynice local pub-restaurant of awesomeness. Over two hours later, very, very full, we stumbled out and into the local verynice farm shop, where much in the way of yumminess was purchased. Pictures to follow, so I can show off my new stash of edible lavender flowers and the win that is lavender cookies. Mmmmm, edible flowers.

7) How's everyone else doing?
