Yesterday it was a memorial for the recent terrorist attack in Oslo. Over 150 000 people met up (that is a quarter of Oslo's population!) with roses and other flowers, and our Crown Prince Håkon and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg showed up to hold speeches. Their speeches were about love, openness, and democracy, and how we must treasure these gifts and not let hatred consume us. I am very touched by how many we where there, and all of us had flowers with which we used to decorate Oslo afterwards. It was so beautiful. My sister Emmie and me had bought a few extra bouquets of red roses a bit outside of Oslo to share out to those who were unfortunate to not find any inside Oslo. Some people showed gratitude directly from their heart when we handed them a rose. It is touching how giving someone a rose can mean so much for someone else.
I am glad that I was able to attend to this memorial. The terrorist attack has been such a shocking event for me personally; a giant bomb that was set up for nothing else than to be a great distraction, so that one man could go undisturbed to a political youth camp held by the Labour Party at Utøya, and brutally murder 70 children one by one. I know several people who were affected by this tragic event at Utøya and I have been to Utøya myself at several occasions like this when I was young. My stepfather is a Labour Party politician, and my younger siblings will likely also go to Utøya when they become just a bit older. This has all been so very shocking, but I will try to make this my last entry about it. But I need to say that I am so very proud of my country and my people. <3
