So I now officially dub myself the most indecisive person EVER. I know,
most of you didn't have any doubts but I have now proven it to myself.
I went to look at backpacks this afternoon. I was in the store for over
3 hours and really I only tried on like 3 backpacks. That in fact was
part of my problem. The guy who was helping me was totally in love with
this one backpack, the
Arc'Teryx Bora 75,
but not only did he think it was so amazing, he also decided that he
didn't like any of the other major brands like Osprey, Gregory,
etc. So he tried the
Bora 75(this
is a review of the Bora 65 but most of the features are the same) on me
and it was ok and then he was like, ok, you should buy it, it fits you
wonderfully. Personally I didn't think it was amazing; good, yes,
but I didn't really have anything to compare it with but el salesperson
wasn't excited about having me try on any of the other packs and it
wasn't until this other guy who was showing me daypacks was like try
these other packs on her that he would. So I ended up trying an
Osprey Luna 70 and a
Gregory Electra
something or other. I wasn't really sold on the Luna 70 and the
Electra was ok but I feel like I didn't really do it justice with
adjusting it properly and all because the salesperson was looking so
disgustingly at the pack. Anyways, I sat on the floor of this
store for like 3 hours, then decided I need to go out and get a drink
or something before I decided anything. I ended up getting the
Arc'Teryx but I'm not satisfied and I think a lot of it has to do with
the fact that A. I feel like I didn't try on all my options and from
what everyone has told me the best thing to do is try on a bunch of
backpacks and see which one fits the best and B. I feel like even if
the Arc'Teryx fit the best, because I didn't decide that on my own, I
feel like it must be wrong or something. So now I've decided my
pack is on probation for 10 days during with time I need to figure out
what I'm taking to South Africa, stuff it all in my pack and wander
around my house for hours. If it does not meet my expectations,
it's going back (they have a full refund if returned within 10 days,
but I can't take it outside to try on).
So yeah, now I want your
opinion. I know it has to be what feels best for me but I want to
know how your backpack feels and what you looked for if you ever
purchased a backpack. And, if you know anything about Arc'Teryx,
I welcome that information as well. From what I've found, they
have good workmanship. They are from Canada (which I approve
of). Yeah, I think that's about it for now.
Sorry for anyone reading this who doesn't care about backpacks,
although if you don't care, you probably haven't read it, so it's all
good.
