Tonight or well this morning to any sane person I watched the film Aliens of the Deep. This film was made by James Cameron of movie making fame. He is the man who has made great movies such as The Abyss, Terminator and Aliens and the horrific waist of recourses Titanic which did have the saving grace of a small amount of nice underwater photography and the wonderful scene of Decaprio dieing yea I am in one of those moods right now so bare with me. Anyway this new film Aliens of the Deep takes undersea exploration and the search for life in the deep ocean and compares it to the search for extraterrestrial life. The film has some very amazing shots of black smokers and other types of hydrothermal vents and the sea life that lives around these vents. The film actually brought tears to my eyes as I saw the wonders of the deep. We are still discovering organisms and ways of life that seem impossible yet it is there. It truly brings into focus the fact that there is still so much in the ocean that we do not understand. The majority of our planet is covered by water, we need water to live yet few understand what is really out there. There is just so much to explore and so much to see. Human kind needs to dedicate more time and money into learning about what is down there. We may find the cures to diseases we may find new forms of energy and foods. The technologies that we develop may allow us to live in and explore all types of environments. I believe that the study of the ocean is the most important thing mankind can do at this time and we are not doing enough. This is why I must finish my journey finish my quest to learn so that I can explore our world and understand where we came from and where we are going.
