I have read your liinks, and believe me, I have TRIED to do things differently, but the way I make the files is the ONLY way that works.
It is either because the codecs on my machine are fuct (possible), or that the mpg encoding that ATI uses is fuct (much more possible), and only works with certain tools.
1) The ONLY program I have found that opens the MPG files that the capture program makes is the TMPGENC DVD Author. This allows me to open the MPG files, cut the commercials, then OUTPUT TO DVD! I am UNABLE to open the original MPG with standard TMPGENC, VirtualDub, you name it.
2) Now I have a DVD structure, and I found a program called ImToo DVD ripper which rips directly to AVI.
I'll be glad to capture a minute of random video and post it on here. If you do any video editing, please download it, and see if you can open it with your tools. If you can, let me know which ones, and I'll try it. If they don't work on my machine, that means something is hosed, and (since it's that time anyways), I'll rebuild, probably sometime this week.
So, tonights WPT will again be in the "crappy" quality (I honestly don't see why people care, I've watched them, and it's prefectly fine quality for friggen poker), and hopefully, by the first episodes of high stakes, we'll have better XVID quality video.
I'll post a video snippet tonight or tomorrow for you to play with.
