I'm teaching two classes on 16th c. German clothing at Estrella, and liable to do a trunk sale of accessories as well (I have too many chains and hat-bobs!) Class info below - please cross-post if you like :-)
Garbie-doll - 16th Century German Trossfrau
Friday, 10 AM at the West Kingdom Royal Encampment
How to get dressed in 16th century German clothing from the skin out. Will include a demo of getting dressed, and a poke through some of the my clothing (because I can't transport all of it!) This class is intended to be an active discussion class, not a lecture-style. The main focus will be on 1530's women's clothing. If you're interested in getting started in German costuming but are intimidated by all the layers, unsure how to achieve the right look, or just want to geek out with other folks interested in 16th c German garb, this is the class for you!
German-ation - How to Get Gorgeous Pleats for your Gorgeous Garb!
Friday, 1 PM at the West Kingdom Royal Encampment
Envy the look of late period Germany but having trouble getting your skirts to fit and flow? This is the class for you! We will explore different types of pleats and the effects they create in order to apply them to 16th German skirts. This class is a recap of experimental styles I have been playing with over the last two years, and an explanation of why I chose those particular methods. It's intended to be hands-on. If you want to play with the different kinds of pleats, please bring a length of fabric, something for a waistband, a needle, and thread. You do not have to be an expert sewer to participate, but the class is designed for those familiar with the artwork of the period. (IOW, there will not be handouts.)
