Add fifteen years to both me and my dresses, and they might not fit anymore. Go figure. :-) Most of my Germans, which I wore all weekend (albeit uncomfortably,) need to be salvaged. Two will stay as is: the original russet dress, which will be kept as is for the sake of posterity, and the beaded dress from Cranach's "Judith." But I have three ( Read more... )

Whether or not I line them depends on the weight and weave of the fabric I'm using. If you've got a lightweight wool, the most likely candidate is linen, yes. The more tightly-woven, the better. I wouldn't go with the heavy linens, simple because they tend to be loosely-woven and will stretch like the dickens as they hang.
