Happy 'splosion day!

Was yesterday the best Fourth of July I've had in years? Yes, it was.

The day started out with Anabelle, as many awesome days do. We met at the Value Village in Cap Hill, where I acquired a black tux shirt and red leather vest that look so hot I can hardly believe they're mine. I also got a new pair of dress shoes, which I was in need of. Coincidentally, they're Franco Sarto and only cost me $7; most of you know that I get a perverse delight in buying designer things, the names of which I have no concern for, and getting them insanely cheap. They're cute as hell, which is the real issue.
Ana and I then went back to Cal Anderson Park to frolic in the fountain again, as it was bloody hot outside. After that I obtained a burrito for lunch, and we went back to her place so I could dye my hair and get ready for the evening's festivities.
When my hair was darkened and my body clothes in my new hot shirt and vest, we took the scantiest of directions and actually managed to make it to the Steel Tigers of Death's practice space, practically on the banks of Lake Union. Their practice space is MAD swanky, apparently Jason actually lives there. On the outside it looks like a crappy, maybe even abandoned industrial space. Inside, it's one of the coolest apartments I have ever seen. We spent the night hanging out on the roof (which was accessed via a slightly rickety ladder and festooned with caution tape in lieu of a railing), drinking, eating Nutter Butters, and hanging out with the guys and a good handful of their family and friends. We had a nice view of Gasworks Park, where teaming masses of Seattleites were crammed together on the hill, waiting for the same event as we, but in considerably less comfort. We also had a great view of the fireworks, maybe the best I've ever enjoyed; the firworks display itself was also the best I've ever seen. Everyone was having a smashing time, cheering and shouting various random things like "That one was my favorite!", "Oh no you didn't!", and "That didn't suck!"
After the fireworks, we all ventured downstairs to watch STD play a fucking AWESOME set, with possibly the best costumes I've seen them in yet. The theme was "Bastard Bridesmaids", the band was topless and wearing a combination of feather boas, tiaras, and veils.
We met a cool photographer named Julia, and she offered to give me, Ana, and Brad all rides back to Cap/First Hill (I had already decided to crash at Anna's for the night), which was a godsend. She might end up moving into Ana's place and taking over the lease when Ana leaves, which would be cool, as she's pretty awesome.
This morning I had to drag myself awake since Ana worked at 8, the bad half of which is I'm still a little tired, but the good half of which is that I might actually get things done today.

Then again, tonight is Chris Thile at the Tractor, so I'll probably spend the entire day trying to decide what to wear.
