Today is in my way

I just want you all to know that a good cure for having a bad day is having Corey call you and talking to her for 2 and a half hours, predominantly about Harry Potter*.

For the record: Corey loves Ron in a real and carnal way.

Today was not so great. It has been achingly gorgeous and warm all week while I worked, and then today, on my day off? Freezing, grey skies, and in the afternoon it started raining fairly heavily. I was already in a sour mood, and I had promised to go to my parents house and get some donations I left there boxed up. Then Devin called me to remind me of a most sad occasion.
There is (was) a great little book store in Capitol Hill called Confounded Books, but today they closed. It's sad, but Erin, Jake, Ryan, and I all went out for the last day. Erin and Jake weren't interested, but Ryan and I each got a few books, among them M@b's Wide Collar Crimes for me. Devin was there of course, but Anna's couldn't because she had to work.
We came home and Jake, Ryan, and I watched a few episodes of this atrocious 90s TV show about a vampire cop (no, I am not kidding) called "Forever Knight." It is most deliciously cheesy and quite exquisitely bad, with horrible special effects and worse writing, but we MST3Kd it and howled with laughter. That was brought to an end because Erin needed it quieter so she could do her homework. I retreated to my room, where I had nothing to do but remember what I might have been doing tonight.
I got passes to this concert for free at work, and after trying to ask three different people to go with me and not finding anyone who was free (cusses!), I sort of gave up. I've lost my taste for going to shows alone these days, although I used to quite enjoy it. So I was sitting around feeling sorry for myself, when three things came together to cheer me up enormously.
1. I pulled out my Muppet Movie soundtrack LP and listened to it for the first time in many years
2. I talked to Mike
and 3. the aforementioned phone call from Corey.

I feel quite a bit better now, although I wish I'd been able to go to the show. Meh.

*Fun fact: If there was a Harry Potter movie in which both Sybil Trelawney and Gilderoy Lockhart were present, that'd be the first time Ken Branagh and Emma Thompson were in a movie together since their divorce. True 'nough.
Also, even though he already had a place in the Harry Potter universe, I still think that, with his natural red hair, Ken Branagh looks like grown-up Ron. That is an opinion that fire cannot melt out of me...well, you know the rest.
