For the record: I am not blaming anyone for anything. Ultimately, it was my decision to change plans or go ahead, and I chose to go ahead. But this is my ragum fragum journal and I'll bitch and moan about how things turned out if I please.
So. bthompsonstroud and ieatvideogames were planning on visiting Po sometime in the spring. It was suggested that I come back for a visit too, and we would have a big happy Cool People Convention. It sounded awesome, and I miss Po and Corey dearly, so I started making plans. I was uncertain about costs, taking the time off, whether or not I'd be able to afford this AND comic con and, y'know, pay my rent and feed myself. Both Po and B offered to pitch in on airfare and feeding me while in MI, so I figured I could handle it. But I wanted to go, so I picked dates and started to shop for airfare.
That's when there was a misunderstanding. A combination of misinterpreting livejournal entries and lack of actual person-to-person communication. I posted in my lj that I was worried about the costs, and B thought that meant that I had changed my mind. He and Lindy canceled their plans and made different ones. Po took B's offer to do "whatever it takes" to get me to visit seriously and so spent his tax refund on moving and fixing his car.
So, I'm pretty much flying solo on this trip, no pun intended. I have the money, I just shouldn't be spending it. But I did make the trip shorter than planned, so that helps a little. I found not-great-but-not-too-bad airfare. I hate shopping for airline tickets like I hate tomatoes on a sandwich, but that's another story.
I'm just frustrated. But I am going to visit my two best friends and we are going to do karaoke and hang out and laugh and have a great fucking time.
