As much as i didn't write in this thing throughout the summer i feel an odd desire to write about my first day at Clemson.
Not like its really all that interesting, but hey.. im kinda bored and for some reason i still have a bit of energy to burn.
First things first. When larry *a good family friend*, my mom and i left the hotel we stayed in friday night about 10 minutes away from clemson it took a good 40 minutes to actually get on to the campus because there were a shitload of cars. Once we parked the van we rented there was an onslaught of helpers more than willing to aid in the moving of all my shit to my dorm, so i didn't complain. Got there around 9:30ish and finally finished getting everything squared away around 11, as soon as my roommate rolled in. Pretty chill guy, kinda goofy but whatever.. i can definitely live with him so i figure that's a good thing.
After i helped reggie *the roommate* put his loft together i went to this laptop orientation class or whatever. I had already taken my laptop and configured it to my liking and changed the password from the generic one on all the school-purchased computers, but im really glad i went because i learned a few things i actually didn't know, i.e. leaving your wireless radio on, even if you can't pick up a signal, drastically drains your battery. Most batteries suck anyways, so it was pretty chill to learn some stuff to preserve it's life.
From there i kinda wandered aimlessly around campus, nodding awkwardly and smiling at all the other people who were doing the same thing and eventually ended up on this big-ass field where there was this "yay freshman" shindig goin on. It kinda sucked, so my roommate and i, along with 3 other girls we had met along the way left hella early and changed clothes to go workout in the fitness center. Definitely a lot of fun, and its pretty much like goin to the Y.. so that works.
After the gym we all just kinda bonded or whatever and walked around campus, eventually stoppin at this sub place for food and ending up back in da dorm.
Something i didn't expect out of all this, however, was to feel like a scared turtle. I think the whole "college" thing hit me half way through the day, cause until i started talkin to the girls i was very quiet and moreso outwardly introverted than i usually am. It all kinda went away after a while, but still.. a bit unsettling. Im actually looking forward to classes starting *though they don't start till wednesday* so i can really meet people and see the same faces everyday to hopefully make new friends and such.
It also helps that my roommate knows some upperclassmen who party a bit ; )
Welp, i think that was more than enough to cover my not writing during the summer.
Im done.
