Lincoln

This is the view from the room I stayed in at The White Hart, in Bailgate, Lincoln. Just round the corner from the cathedral, so as soon as I arrived, I walked round and sat inside the nave listening to choir practice, then Evensong. Later, I went out again and listened to the bell-ringing practice, which was lovely. 13 bells in all, but 12 of them rung in the usual way. The other one is too big, so the clapper is pulled against the bell so that the bell does not move too much and shake the tower.

The left hand chimney is on the hoy / on the wonk / on the cank

first one is Manchester; second is Essex, and third I heard only this morning from someone in the village, originally from West London.

This clock tower is also on the .......
as it is in Glasgow, research will have to be done to identify the Glaswegian term for this
phenomenon.......

on the wonk
