I don't even know whether I mentioned here on LJ that I actually managed to finish NaNoWriMo back in November? Well, I did hit the 50K words, but unfortunately, I only got about halfway through my novel with that wordcount. I had been planning on finishing it, or at least attempting to finish it, but so far, I haven't written much since November. I ( Read more... )

It's nice to read you opted for indulgence regarding the costume! I really liked your sketches and can't wait to see the final product. I sure hope it turns out the way you planned (or any other way that you find awesome) - I'd hate for you to put so much into it and then be disappointed. :0\ That being said, don't stress yourself out about the costume. I'm trying hard to remember the few adult competitions I've visited - I think some skaters didn't even have a real costume. I doubt anyone will be able to keep up with your sparkles!

Just reading about that smartass makes me want to punch her face, BTW.

Thanks! I am picking up the costume today afternoon, so hopefully it's going to look nice enough. My rhinestones should be here soon, too, so then I can get to glueing. :) (The Chinese ones I'd ordered might not make it quite on time, though...)

I've only seen one adult competition (locally), about half of it, and I know what the girls I train with are wearing. It's nowhere near the bling you see in elite competitions, but I don't think that's necessary... a part of me feels like this whole endeavor is slightly silly, but then again, having a nice costume probably does give you a bit of a confidence boost, so...

I'm a member of an adult figure skating group on Facebook and they take their sparkles very seriously - many of the members are American and adult figure skating is a bigger deal in the US than it is in Europe, so splurging on a costume to them is completely normal.
