Bang bang and allegro moderato with smetana.

New art journal post, for those of you who're interested:

Here comes the fucking bride

Now I shall go watch Kill Bill, because I've been wanting to do that for a couple of days now.

I had a lovely hot-cherry sundae today, it was perfect. It's amusing how my mom always discards vanilla ice cream as too plain and request the scoop of vanilla in her sundae of choice to be exchanged for something fancier, while I always enjoy the vanilla so, so much. I usually get some interesting flavor when I just get a scoop on its own, but in sundaes, I love vanilla. If you asked me about my favorite ice cream flavor, I'd probably say that it's vanilla. It's classic.

I have kind of fallen in love with Tchaikovsky's violin concerto in D, op. 35 recently, esp. the first part. (I know that the 'first part' is called allegro moderato, but I opt not to use the term here - it would be pretentious to throw around fancy musical terms when all I know about music is whether it sounds pleasant to my ears or not. ;)) Anyway, it's so pretty and it makes me want to flutter around in a ballet-like manner and/or put on my skates and execute some dramatic & graceful footwork (if I was able, that is). Somebody skated to it, right? Daisuke, maybe?

I'm making myself chew through Pushkin's Captain's Daughter (Капитанская дочка) in the Russian original, because I need to practice my Russian. And I miss Russia. I want to go back to Moscow. I applied for a trainee position with a communications/promotion/advertising agency that has offices in various places, from Munich, over Prague and Dubai and Beijing, to Moscow. It would be fun if they hired me and sent me to Moscow. I imagine that not many trainees are keen on going to that particular office. I'd happily go for half a year.
But back to books. I also started a book by Gabriel Garcia Marquez the other day and I'm not impressed so far. I only read a few pages, true, so maybe it will get better. And it's in German; I think I'd enjoy it more in Czech or English, because the sentence structure is kind of complex and it just drags on an on in German.

Scholarship update: I'm so miffed. It's funny how professors always push us to pay attention to deadlines... but when it comes to doing something important in time, they fail. I get it, you're busy, but I asked for a recommendation in June. Surely completing a 1-page form doesn't require that much time. It's due Sept 1st and I'm tired of reminding them professors to PLEASE get it done before then because if they don't, it means no America pour moi.
