I just watched a documentary about Russia, or about the Trans-Sib, actually, and that goes all the way to China. I missed the first hour and I think I'd seen this, or something similar, once before already. But the thing is. I still find Russia so incredibly fascinating. It's intimidating (so vast!) and hostile (especially the climate and the living conditions in some parts of the country), and yet so amazingly beautiful, its people so unique. Russia has soul. A dark one, perhaps, but definitely alluring.
I can't explain it and I know I complained a lot while I was in Russia. But whenever someone I know announces that they're going to Russia, or contemplate going, I get all excited, tell them yes, go, go, you'll love it.
I love Russia, in a way. In more than one way. (And Moscow, in particular, of course.) It's strange, but it's true.
