So tell me, what are the odds of me going to this figure skating shop EXACTLY at the morning when they get new products shipped in and thus are closed?
Sport Professional opens at 11, so I was at Marksistskaya metro station at around 11. The street the shop is in is supposed to be close to the metro station and I thought I was going the right way. Then I passed this park... and noticed that the street has to come BEFORE the park. So I turned around and marched in the opposite direction, checking the map every once in a while. Suddenly, a man started talking to me - asked what I was looking for... I told him and he said that he's headed to that very street, so I should come with him. I was of course a little hesitant, but then he goes like - oh, I won't lead you into a side-street or anything, there are less maniacs in Moscow than they say. He wanted to know where I'm from etc., so I told him and he's like "oh, Czech Republic, our Slavic brothers." and then later he said something like "earlier you were under us, now you're under them (the EU?), it doesn't really make a difference" and said something about how one day Russia is gonna get stronger again and then we're all going to be well off. He also said how most people in Moscow aren't able to give you any direction but he knows every street, because he was born in this part of Moscow.
He led me to the correct street, showed me the house. I knew I had to walk into the yard, so I did... and after a while, I finally saw it. It's basically in a basement/cellar of one of the houses. I come to the door... and it says that it's closed! :( There were some other people who came and they went in, got yelled at "the shop is closed!"... I think the lady also yelled that it's closed till lunch. And then there was this lady who went in and begged them to sell her just one pair of tights because we have a competition, I just need one pair of tights.
They did not seem very friendly in the shop. Which makes me think that maybe I should not dare to enter without a Russian by my side.
So I turned around and went home.
