Goddamnit! I just typed like half of an entry and then accidentally closed the window and now it's all gone!
Anyway.
Today was spent doing... nothing? Or almost nothing. I did some research on skates and skate shops in Moscow in the morning. The next time I have the opportunity, which should be Tuesday morning or Wednesday, I'll go to the Sport Professional store. It's a large store specialized in figure skating, so hopefully they'll be able to give me some professional advice.
Out of the skates they sell there, I could either get Edea (Overture or Chorus) or WIFA (probably the Deluxe Skatec D set). I don't think I can afford to pay considerably more than 7000rubles (189€) for skates + blades, which of course limits my choices.
I could buy Risport skates, but the problem with Risport is that they don't have much selection in the mid-range - they mainly have advanced boots. If I went for the RF3, for example, I should probably buy it not at Sport Professional, but the other, smaller store that Lena took me to, because they're cheaper there. (Or, in fact, I should get them at the other place that also sells Riedell because they have the RF3 on sale.) Either way, it's around 6000 rubles for the boots, +/- a couple hundred. And then I'd still need blades. Which is a point even more confusing than boots.
Any experience with blades? How much do you think should I invest, so I can get a reasonable blade?
The prices here range anywhere from 1500rubles (MK21, 40€) to like 10000 rubles (JW Gold Seal, >250€, not that I'd buy those!).
Also, I have absolutely NO idea about things like the rocker of the blade, the radius, how long they should be... Does that kind of thing even matter for me? They should help me pick blades in the store, yes?
It's making me a little desperate, because I don't know what I need to look for. And also because I crave skating so bad, I need to get back on the ice!
In other news, I bought a ticket for Yunona i Avos today. It's for April 7th and I was lucky to actually find a place that had some; apparently tickets for this show are hard to find. It cost me 1300, which is okay. I have a seat in the "amfiteatr", which is not the best part of the theater to sit, but my seat is in the middle and I think I should get a good view of the stage. Whee!
Also, I found out when Worlds is on Eurosport Russia next week, yay! It looks like I won't have to skip classes at all to watch the men. :) I won't even have to skip for pairs and most of the ladies. As for dance, well. I can live without watching dance live.
PS: I barely resisted going to T.G.I. Fridays today. I kinda want a nice proper steak, I haven't had one for quite a while. I think I'll go there for lunch at some point. Anyone wanna join? They've got unhealthy American food! And if there's one thing Americans excell at, it's steaks. :D
