The Aliens Attack Prague!
Yesterday was the kind of day on which every little thing irritated me, from things people said or did to things people didn't say or do. I stayed in the gym for an hour and a half and the intense workout sort of dissolved some of my pettiness and anger. I think I must be a horrible person to have around sometimes.
Totally out of the blue, I decided to make a new layout for my LJ. The pictures kinda make me smile. I don't know how long it will stay, though - I discovered that the only layouts I can use for longer than a short while are very neutral, like the few layouts I previously had. Also, the layout gets broken whenever somebody on my f-list posts a slightly larger picture. Ever heard of LJ cuts?
My mom came back yesterday and she actually brought me blade protectors for my skates like I had asked her to. However, they're not the type I wanted. They were the only ones they had. They're the ice-hockey type, the protectors that are bent in the front to cover the toe-pick part of the blade, but they're not bent in the back to cover the heel, they go on straight in the back and have a metal spiral band that you hook around the blade to hold the protector in place. They're black and they're not pretty. :'( But oh well, they serve the purpose. I'll buy proper ones when I buy new skates.
I skipped one of my Int'l Marketing classes today - the first one was already pointless enough, so I saw no reason to sit through another one and stay at school until 6:20pm. Tomorrow there's no school, Wednesday is my crazy day and on Thursday the railway will be striking again - all through the day until Friday morning. I'm glad that the strike ends on Friday (8am), because this way I'll still be able to go skating. :)
By the way, have you heard about what they want to build in Prague? The new building of the National Library? This is the winning design:
:-o WTF? I mean, I have nothing against modern architecture. Modern architecture can look cool and can be very intriguing. But this? This is a little too much. It looks like melted Shrek. Or those aliens from The Simpsons. Or like a monstrous heap of slime, which is the nickname the Czechs came up with for the building (chrchel). The organic shapes are kinda cool, but I don't think the building fits into its surroundings, nor do I like the colors - I like the combination of vivid green and purple, but not necessarily on multi-storey buildings.
The other designs that entered the contest are here. Personally, I like the last one - it looks very futuristic. I also like the first, fourth and fifth from the top. I don't know if these would fit better, but at least they're not shrek-colored. I wonder what they'll decide to do in the end, because there seems to be a wild debate about this going on in the country. What do you guys think about the concept?
