Random comments on Men's FS:
Stéphane's Flamenco. Wow, that's hot, the straightline and the final combination spin... terrific! What a change from the Zebra!
Johnny pointing his fingers at his temple, his hand shaping a gun, after his free skate - that was scary. He looked beuautiful, though. The opening triple axel-triple toe was exquisite, so amazing. (The camera angles at ESPN were different than in the Eurosport vid I saw, I liked the Eurosport version a bit better.)
Tomáš's program was sort of slow at some points, but the jumps, whoa!
Lol at Dick Button calling Joubert's performance uninspired. He's an athlete learning to become an artist, that was accurately said.
Poor Jeff. I love his music, plus he's very beautiful on the ice and he has some really nice moves, but the free skate just didn't work for him. (Did you notice how his pants were a little short and you could see the ducktape at the top of his skates? I've seen somebody else ducktaping their skates like this, I think it was one of the Americans at Nationals.)
Evan pissed me off once again by what he said in the interview after his FS - he talked about not wussing out and at least going for the quads in both of his program... And it was just so obvious, he could as well have added the "unlike Weir" at the end of that sentence. What a little bitch.
Daisuke Takahashi - I was happy for him, his FS was enjoyable and I loved how mental the crowd went after his performance!
Hmmm, what else? I think there were some minor changes in Child of Nazareth, in the circular step sequence, for example. His costume looks very naked, somehow - I never noticed until now.
I still believe in Johnny, despite his crappy season. I believe that he's going to be the best in the world, I even believe that he's going to be standing right at the top of the podium in Vancouver in 2010. He is brilliant, I KNOW it. And... I feel spellbound while watching Johnny skate, which is not the case with the rest of them. He has so much in him, so much talent and power and charisma and beauty. Plus he is so gorgeous, physically AND mentally.
Anna2 watched with me for most of the night, when she heard Johnny speak, she concluded that he has to be gay. She agreed that Tanith Belbin is gorgeous and that Jeff is adorable. She liked the dresses on the ice dancers.
Mmm... what else. Here's something I wrote last night BEFORE the free skate. It's not something I'm very proud of, it doesn't feel complete, it's just a snippet... But I'm sharing anyway:
For Us
He runs his fingers over Stéphane’s sides, feeling the ribs underneath and shaking his head in disbelief.
“You shouldn’t have come,” he whispers and moves his hands to Stéphane’s face, tracing his tired features.
“I wasn’t going to,” Stéphane mumbles and bows his head, his hair hiding his eyes like a veil. “But I didn’t have a say.”
Johnny nods. He knows how things go in this business. He understands.
He lifts Stéphane’s chin gently with his fingertips, then leans in to plant a kiss on his eyelids, tasting a hint of salt on his lips as he does so.

It hurts. It hurts so bad to see him with the Swiss bastard that Evan thinks his chest is going to explode. He hates Johnny for everything he’s done - made him crave and become addicted to him, made him feel. He tried to get rid of this, of Johnny, he honestly tried. Because He. Is. No. Good. For. You. He tried to avoid him, ignore him, forget that he exists. He started fucking Tanith. He took away his goddamn title - it was revenge for stealing his heart. He persuaded the press that he despises Johnny. He couldn’t persuade his heart.

“So you’re fucking Lambiel?” The words are out before he can stop himself, before he can think.
“That’s none of your business,” Johnny’s answer is calm, measured.
“Will you still want him after he loses the title?” He steps closer, lowering his voice. “Or are you going to sleep with whoever wins?”
Johnny smirks disdainfully. “If you’re asking if I’m going to let you touch me if you should win this - which I highly doubt - the answer is NO. Go back to Tanith.”
“Fuck you,” he whispers after Johnny is gone, gritting his teeth. He wants to stop… wanting him.
***
“Please win this,” Stéphane’s voice is tense and urgent when he kisses Johnny’s neck, his hands combing through his hair. “Please.” He sounds so desperate, it makes Johnny’s heart constrict with pain.
Suddenly, Stéphane grips his face in his palms and makes him look straight at him, dark eyes burning with a flame Johnny hasn’t seen in Stéphane for quite a while.
“Win this for me, Johnny. Do you hear me?”
“I -“ am afraid, Johnny wants to say, but the words get stuck in his throat.
“You can do it,” Stéphane insists. “I believe in you,” he adds then and something about his voice makes Johnny believe in himself, too.
“Okay,” he replies. “I’m gonna win. For you. For us.”

It started as a drabble after I watched Stéphane's short, he looks so THIN and weary (Reet called him Weir-thin... and being Weir-thin is something very unusual and alarming when you're Stéphane Lambiel) and he was slow in the program and I just wanted to pet him and hug him and take care of him. Because I can't do that myself, I decided to let Johnny do it for me. Then, somehow, Evan popped up in my head and... I am not loving Evan these days. Then I felt the urge to go back to Stéphane and Johnny (and at that point, I believed Johnny to be more likely to make the podium than Stéphane). So it turned out as a mix of two different stories, but it's more like... four separate episodes. It's no good, but it was good to write a little.
I hope I'll get to watch at least some of the ladies tomorrow night. Anna2 and I are going shopping, I need a bikini.
