I'm spamming LJ today (guess the two memes that I want to post will have to wait for tomorrow)... But I really want to post this. I wrote this last night, listening to
Forgiven by Deb Talan - download this and listen, it's not the lyrics, it's the melody.
For Reet, because she's got a hip injury and because I'm her official doctor, despite my lack of doctor-skills:
Happiness
Lesson Nr. 23: Does happiness mean taking care of the happiness of others? ~ François Lelord, "Le Voyage d'Hector. Ou la recherche du bonheur."
When you came home bruised, broken and disappointed, I held you through your pain. I held you through the night when you couldn't fall asleep, growing a little more frustrated with every tick of the clock. I held you as you sobbed yourself into exhaustion and when you finally drifted off into unquiet sleep, I blew out the last candle and lay down next to you. And there, on the verge of night and morning, I understood that this is happiness - being here for you whenever you need me and having your shoulder to cry on whenever I need you.

PS: I just finished reading the book the quote is from (I read it in German, so my translation might not be 100% correct) - it's a very cute book and everybody should read it.
