people are always saying how a rolling stone gathers no moss. but what happens if it rolls through a big wad of gum?
my theory is that as the stone rolls over a big wad of gum, the gum sticks to the surface of the stone, suddenly finding itself pulled and stretched and eventually yanked away from its stationary position on the ground, thus becoming wrapped and twisted and molded to the surface of the stone. eventually, because of the nice stretched, flattened shape along with the increased air exposure due to rolling along at high speeds, the gum quickly dries to the stone's surface, almost becoming a part of this crazy rolling stone. now, while gum is soft and chewy, it's also tough and extremely durable under all kinds of harsh conditions. and all the while the stone is rolling down hill and into dusty, rocky roads and muddy puddles and all other sorts of trecherous terrain, the gum always sticks with the stone no matter what.
