White stuff! Lots of it!

One of the plasterers got here about 8:30, having gotten stuck in the snow several times on the way. (The other is probably still stuck on the other side of Lewis Pass.) Apparently it was barely snowing out his way. We've got 6-8", and more still coming, and the drifts are knee-high. Not much in snowy climes, but a bit much for the locals, and getting progressively worse. I brushed the snow off his sweatshirt and showed him how to stomp his boots properly, gave him hot tea with honey while he phoned assorted bosses, and sent him away until at least Weds ... (Hey, it means I get to keep my computer hooked up!)

Oh well. Didn't really expect them to finish this week anyway.

JB is settled at Jennifer's for the moment, bless her. Seriously hoping he's behaving himself! He'll come home tomorrow evening if his dad thinks it's safe to pick him up, or the next day. Or maybe the next ... Eep. Missing him, but glad he's not stuck in the van with nothing but X-box to keep him occupied.

Oxer thinks snow is the Best Thing Ever. Closely followed by Worshiping the Heater ...

The chooks refuse to come out of their shed, and were most miffed because this time snow blew right inside! But they have water and food and the run of the garage (the bits that aren't full of bedroom furniture), so they'll be okay.

On the positive side, I left the power to the caravan hooked up last night (duct tape to cover the gap where the window's open to let it in), so we were able to leave the heater on. It was a nice, cosy 11C (52F) this morning. I'll head back out there in a moment to warm up a bit, watch vids and knit. Holiday, really!

Oh, after I do vege things to throw in the slow cooker for dinner.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.

quake, snow, great disruption, house, big events
