I finally got around to watching the special episodes for “The Queen’s classroom” today. I must say that this is one of the few dramas where I found that the special episodes are not redundant. The specials were really good. I was seriously touched by the specials. It made me realize the extent that a teacher would go just for the love of his/her students.
Without doubt, she is a good teacher. She is strict, but a good teacher nonetheless. However, I really wonder if society can accept a teacher like this? I feel that these years, the relationship between a teacher and a student had changed gradually. In the past, the relationship between a teacher and a student was strictly that of a teacher and a student. However, nowadays, the relationship between a teacher and a student is more of a friend-friend relationship. The relationship is no longer as clear as it was before. In this kind of era, can a teacher like her exist?
I really wonder, what exactly are the qualities of a good teacher? Of course, the most fundamental requirement would be to be able to teach. However, being a teacher is not just about teaching the subject one is assigned. A teacher has to teach the students to think for themselves; let the students find the fun of learning; teach the students some basic life skills, etc. How exactly can a teacher accomplish all these? What kind of role does a teacher have to play to accomplish this? Is it a devil role like that of the teacher in “The Queen’s classroom”? An angel role? A friend role? Which role exactly should a teacher take on to become a good teacher?
Ultimately, I think that this would depend upon the class. Every class is different and every student is different. This would also result in the teacher responding differently to different class. I believe that as long as a teacher puts in their heart and soul into teaching the students, at the end of the day, I am sure that the students would understand and learn. I think that as long as a teacher puts in their best effort and love into teaching their students, that teacher is a good teacher.
