Some of you may wonder why I'm suddenly around more, so here goes:
I started working in my current job in December 2005. I started with relatively few hours, but since then I've doubled them. That's when the creative part of my brain was not just told to take the back seat but was more or less unceremoniously dumped in the trunk. I have nice colleagues, no doubt about it, but they're not creative or nerdy.... To tell the truth, I find it hard to relate to them. Still, I tried to adapt. I threw myself into my work, trying to make my brain work systematically instead of creatively, etc. It seemed like the grown-up thing to do.
After work I felt drained, but as long as I felt that I was improving, getting more efficient, I felt it was worth it. With a new department head it became clear that my career is a cul-de-sac, and many of his decisions have just one goal: to turn us into robots. Most of my colleagues don't mind, Having no responsibility gives them a sense of security, and if they make mistakes based on these orders they shrug it off.
Returning to LJ is like a healing spell. I read several meta threads and felt a warm glow of companionship. A lot of people have wandered off, it seems, but there are stil plenty of people who love all things Jossverse and who still have a hankering for it, who still post discussions, polls, icons and fanfic. *HUG* I love you all, you hear me? You're great! Keep going!
I have several other interests, like e.g. pen and paper rolegaming, playing LotRO, poetry, and my family, and I'm sure there will be times when I'll spend more time with them, than on LJ, but I'm happy to say that the fannish part of my brain is currently calling the shots. :)
I have two fanfic fragments that I wrote waaaay back but never posted: a Snape & Ethan fic and some Spike/Riley porn. So, I'm planning and plotting. It's nice to have one or two fics on the burner. :D
*waves happily* Thank you, guys. Thank you for being you.
