That was my buddy this week... I live on Lambreth Lane on South, but I took the Winding Ridge bus so I'd have to walk since it was such a nice day. And I found this special friend crossing the long stretch of Farm Acre Road, which is as wide across for her/him as it is long for me. And there were a lot of cars so I went and got a dried weed off of the grass on the hill to rescue Little Friend but Little Friend didn't want to be disturbed and curled in a tight ball and bristled to make me go away, like an armadillo of the insect world. So the many people sitting outside their apartments had quite a spectacle as they watched me walk into the middle of the road, crouch, and walk back to the side every time a car came, only to walk back out into the middle of the road, crouch, and repeat... and once I finally managed to rescue Little Friend on the weed-life preserver, I found myself quite taken with the dried weed, and started standing in the road holding it up to the sun and taking more pictures.
And then I was locked out of my apartment so I had to ask to borrow a phone from the people watching me with a collective "WTF?!" thought bubble hovering above their heads the whole time.
Sunny days in the 'Cuse are magical. People and flora and fauna all come out in such numbers you never knew existed. And the quad! I just felt like a freshman again due to the sheer number and concentration of people. You never see that during the long winter, which is sad to me, because I love winter too and think everyone should be out frolicking and catching snowflakes on their tongues.
