It was Duquesnoy's 260th birthday yesterday. I was going to mention it and I entirely forgot. If you don't remember who Duquesnoy was, I suggest re-reading That Book About Le Bas.
To summarize, in case you don't remember, he was another Montagnard Conventionnel from Pas-de-Calais who went on mission with Le Bas on several occasions. He was still on mission when 9 Thermidor took place, but was recalled on 23 Thermidor. He was involved in the journée of the 1st of Prairial, Year III, and was subsequently arrested with the five other "martyrs of Prairial," Bourbotte, Duroy, Goujon, Romme, and Soubrany. Following Goujon and Romme, he committed suicide with the same blade in order to avoid being executed.
That was a bit macabre for a birthday notice, I know, but what can you do?
