I just finished reading Paule Becquaert's Le Jugement Secret, and I really don't know what to think of it. Naturally, it was incredibly depressing, but I knew that it would be just from the premise--it takes place during Thermidor, after all. There were some parts of it that were very moving, certainly, but it was more upsetting than I could have

It was certainly a very strange play--as I said, I don't really know what to think. Perhaps I'm giving the author too much in the way of benefit of the doubt just because she belongs to the ARBR and the AMRID...? It didn't seem in the play as if the reader/audience was meant to think the "judgments" were fair or accurate.... :/
