you can't blink

Well, Sarah says that.  She's so macho.

I thought I might bemuse my friend W with an obsession crossover.  Can anyone else read this?  One of those things I must learn.

Why Fox Mulder and Jim Halpert are both irresistable.  What can they possibly have in common?

Both Fox and Jim are dorks.  Fox, being David Duchovny, is of course much more handsome.  But handsome is not the issue.  The issue is that they are both charmingly awkward with the opposite sex, despite their alpha-male advantages.  They are only awkward with the persons they're attracted to, though, and they cover by focusing on their overriding obsessions.  They are absolute experts on things other people don't care about.  in Jim's case, he plans practical jokes on Dwight.  Fox's interests are a bit more global, universal, dangerous, weird.  So the relationship is not about to take precedence for years...as we know.  Jim gets his girl in a reasonable amount of time.

Both Fox and Jim have subversive sense of humor.  This is Jim's way of fighting a stultifying job and indecision about the future.  It is Mulder's way of keeping Scully both close and at arm's length.  It  was also, I suspect, David Duchovny's way of making the role and the show his very own.  In both cases, the humor sends the attractiveness quotient into the stratosphere.

Both have a highly individual panic face.  Fox Mulder's panic face communicates what most would perceive as stone-hard confidence.  Jim's face is perfectly expressionless, though somewhat less forbidding.  With the exception of the eyebrows, which climb as high as they can go and remain part of the physiognomy.  (Ha, you thought I was going to say face.)

I so wish someone would write an Office/X-Files crossover.  I know you don't partake, W.  Anyone you can lean on?
