Just got back from the flick...Robert Rodriguez has got to be some kind of wacko. Loved Johnny Depp's character's silly t-shirts and general odd attire--and he had the best lines.
I saw 'Desperado' but never saw 'El Mariachi'. Seeing 'Desperado' first didn't really help me understand this movie any better. I admit, I was lost at least 25% of the time. ; )
I forgot how hot Antonio Banderas is... O.o ...especially with long hair. Graceful too. I guess the hook-up with Melanie Griffith kinda threw me. ; )
I liked 'Desperado' a lot more...but this movie was a lot of fun on a Saturday afternoon with my fella--a movie we both could enjoy.
Semi-Spoilers for 'Once Upon a Time in Mexico':

Mik totally cracked me up when he said Johnny Depp's character looked like The Crow, after he had the unfortunate removal of his eyeballs. Ick, but strangely true. ; )
My favorite part was at the start, when $10k was given over in a 'Clash of the Titans' lunchbox, rather than a briefcase. LMAO
Saw a preview for 'Master and Commander--The Far Side of the World'. Damn that movie looks good. No surprise coming from a 'Horatio Hornblower' zealot. This movie may be James D'Arcy's big break--he was all over the preview. It does my Obscure-British-Actor-lovin' heart good, to see his gorgeous face on the big screen. *drools over tall-ships and men in u-nee-form*
This started out as a reply to
sandelwood, but it got so long I decided to update my own neglected journal, rather than muddy up hers with my musings. ; )
