Dear Yuletide writer,
thank you for writing for me! I'm so excited Yuletide season is back; it's always my fave fannish time of the year, and I hope you're going to have fun as well!
As I'm the sort of writer who loves getting prompts in an exchange, I've tried to list several different prompts/scenarios for all my requested canons, but if those don't appeal to you or you'd rather have more freedom in what to write, I'm also going to list my general likes and fave tropes as well as my DNWs at the end of this letter.
Also, I ship all of the people I requested, so many of the prompts are shippy or porny. In case you don't ship them, please let me reassure you that I'd also be more than happy with non-shippy fic! What I'm mainly into is having my faves interact, so whether they make out or solve a case together is both guaranteed to make me very very happy. It's really all about the emotional connection for me - as long as they care about each other deeply (or dislike each other passionately for the foeyay pairings) I promise I'm going to love it!

I absolutely love how this production modernizes the show - we might still have the same libretto, but many of the staging choices are so striking and always make me incredibly curious about the world we get to see. What sort of country is this - is it France? Is it the US? Is it contemporary, or is it a dystopian future? How did the different experiences these characters made shape their personalities compared to the 1830s France characters? (For example, a Valjean who spent most of his life in the US prison system instead of the19th century bagne of Toulon!)
What I always find most intriguing about Dallas fic is seeing how a writer makes the characters and the world their own, and comes up with character voices, so whether you want to write a contemporary Texas, a dystopian France, or you find a completely different interpretation of this world, I'm up for all of these things!
I think Nehal Joshi is the most beautiful, emotional and vulnerable Valjean I have ever seen. I love his acting so much. His Soliloquy made me cry the first time I watched it. I love how incredibly gentle he is with everyone he reaches out towards, how he was transformed by the touch of the Bishop, and how he reaches out and touches others.
I adore Ed Watts' Javert probably to an unhealthy degree. I freely admit that this is not at all based on his acting abilities in Dallas - but that leather coat! And he is so tall, and so handsome, and HAS SUCH HUGE HANDS, and is so tall, and that leather coat! AND LEATHER GLOVES! (Feel free to use any of those things in fic! ;)
Here are a few prompts/scenarios which I hope might work as inspiration. I realize that most of these are shippy and a few are porny, but I'd also be completely happy with gen focusing on these two and their complicated relationship and foeyay - I genuinely love them both so much and I keep wishing there were more fic for them!
American Gods (TV)
Salim, The Jinn
I read the book long ago, and the story about Salim and the Ifrit was the one bit that stuck with me all these years. And then, to my utter delight, the TV series gave us not only an utterly gorgous version of that, but gave us so much more of Salim than I could have dreamed of!
I'm having a very very hard time coming up with specific prompts for these two because basically ANYTHING AT ALL would make me very very happy! Fic set in the future, showing their meeting - or a life post-meeting? Yes please! Or fic about Salim on his way to the jinn? Maybe there is some other supernatural force interfering? Or maybe you want to write them happily settling down, or a pwp, or a lazy morning in bed, or the first time they go out on a date? I'd also love more of the sort of canonical adventures we get to see, and I wonder what the roadtrip would be like if the jinn was also in that car - or if Laura and Sweeney were still with Salim when he finds him?
And if you're not into shippy content about these two, I would also be very very happy about fic focusing just on one of them - something about Salim's past, or more of Salim's present, from the confusing new life in NYC to the weird road trip he's taking. Likewise, I'd also love more backstory for the jinn - have there been others like Salim before? Or what is he up to right now, while Salim is on his road trip?

There are so many things I love about Shoujo Cosette. It does so many things right, and I love how an adaptation that manages to leave out the entire prostitution bit somehow manages to make the story even sadder than it already is! I also love Valjean's fluffy hair, especially when it gets a bit longer and fluffier during the convent years, and Javert's hot Paris outfit. He looks so much better with that hat hiding his fringe!
Furthermore, you don't need to write me all three characters in a fic, I'd love to see any two in any combination interact.

Here are a few prompts/scenarios which I hope might work as inspiration. - I love that moment during the Sewers when Valjean casually pats Javert's shoulder in gratitude for letting him leave, and Javert recoils in complete shock at the touch. It's such a beautiful throwback to when Valjean himself flinched at the Bishop's touch. What I'd love to see is Valjean actually recognizing that at that moment, Javert is going through something not quite unlike what he went through once - what happens next? Does he take Javert's gun away? Make Javert help him carry Marius? Does Valjean leave and come back for him?
- Ed Watts' Javert is surely the most awkward Javert to ever pretend to be a spy at the barricade. I'd love something that makes him and Valjean interact there. I'm always intrigued by the idea of their positions getting reversed: the Amis take Valjean for the spy, and don't realize that Javert is. Or what would happen if Javert just refused to leave when Valjean frees him? Surely Valjean wouldn't shoot him - so what if Javert sticks around for the final battle and the aftermath? And when the SWAT team attacks, surely they wouldn't recognize Javert in his spy outfit. What if he gets injured - or Valjean gets injured? Would they try to save each other?
- Anything involving BDSM culture because Watt's Javert seems like SUCH a good fit for it. He'd LOVE having lots of rules to enforce (awkwardly or not). I can just see him getting excited about really detailed slave contracts, or going shopping for kinky leather outfits. And meanwhile Valjean is so completely his opposite in that regard that I'd love to see them negotiate a BDSM relationship around their differences. (And for a non-Post-Seine prompt, how awkward would it be if they met up at a masked BDSM event, or Valjean answered Javert's looking-for-a-sub ad...)
- I love their Confrontation and how the dynamic gets changed by the presence of Javert's gun, and I'd love to see literally any way to explore/change that scene that further. (What if poor Valjean gets wounded by accident? Or what if Javert does, would Valjean still run? Or would he rather stay and care for him despite the danger?)
- Ed Watts' Javert seems so incredibly repressed and I'd love a closer look at what he's repressing. Wattsvert trying to come to terms with the first stirrings of sadistic tendencies in a Post-Seine scenario? Or does he have some fetish he's ashamed of and has nightmares of his co-workers finding the weird porn he's hiding on his laptop? Maybe the first time Javert invites Valjean back to his home he forgot to hide away the porn or the fetish gear in his wardrobe?
- Javert and Valjean texting (sexting?) Or does Javert send his boss a dickpic by accident when he meant to send it to Valjean? Did pre-Derailment Javert somehow get Valjean's number and keeps texting him while he tries to find out where he's hiding? Do they perhaps get closer to each other despite Javert telling himself that he is texting a criminal?)
- awkward first times/domesticity: actual curtainfic shopping at Ikea together, Javert taking what legal steps are necessary to acquire a pardon for his bf Valjean, a first holiday together, or Javert introducing his bf to his co-workers
- a dystopian AU featuring sexbots, wherein Javert somehow acquires a Valjean look-alike sexbot, and Valjean has to pretend to be his sexbot for a day for some reason. (Maybe Valjean sneakily sends the robot to court to confess and be arrested while staying behind with Javert, hoping to make an easy escape that way?)
- A crossover with The Fantasticks where smug, flirty El Gallo Watts drives poor Wattsvert to fits of jealousy by flirting with Nehaljean and kissing his wrist…

- I love Chou Chou! I can't help but feel that in a way, he is standing in for Valjean - when timeline/storylines don't allow Valjean to be somewhere to help the children, it's Chou Chou who takes his place and makes sure that everything turns out right. I'd love to see Chou Chou for once getting to help Valjean, or the two having a bonding moment or adventure together. Or maybe Chou Chou is playing match maker for him and Javert?
- I also LOVE that the anime comes up with so much world building and backstory for the Montreuil years. Valjean's relationship with Alain the bread thief is adorable, and the way Alain believes in him, and the hospital Sister Simplice is building with Valjean's help - all while Javert keeps suspiciously lurking in the shadows. I'd love basically any sort of fic exploring Valjean's day to day life in Montreuil with all these background characters - maybe Javert is spying on all of it and writing a report/a diary about his observations?
- That first entrance of Javert is so overly dramatic, I love it! It was a dark and stormy night indeed! Javert doesn't only look like a vampire in this show, but he also arrives during the night and is announced by lightning and thunder! :D I'd love an actual vampire!Javert AU! (Does he follow the scent of virgin blood and that's why he keeps guarding the convent suspiciously for days? Does he turn into a bat and fly over the convent gardens by night, while Valjean is hiding on his knees in a chapel? Does he actually catch Valjean but then can't decide whether he wants to arrest him or suck that sweet virgin blood?)
- One of my fave scenes is when Javert keeps Valjean's hollow coin after the Gorbeau House incident, and takes it out and talks to it! Anime Javert is such a weirdo and I love it. Anything that makes use of his obsession would be great. Does he imagine the coin talking back to him? Do they solve crimes together? Does he get tied up by Patron-Minette too one day and only Valjean's hollow convict coin can save him? Does he wank with the coin?
