I absolutely love how this production modernizes the show - we might still have the same libretto, but many of the staging choices are so striking and always make me incredibly curious about the world we get to see. What sort of country is this - is it France? Is it the US? Is it contemporary, or is it a dystopian future? How did the different experiences these characters made shape their personalities compared to the 1830s France characters? (For example, a Valjean who spent most of his life in the US prison system instead of the19th century bagne of Toulon!)
What I always find most intriguing about Dallas fic is seeing how a writer makes the characters and the world their own, and comes up with character voices, so whether you want to write a contemporary Texas, a dystopian France, or you find a completely different interpretation of this world, I'm up for all of these things!
I love that Ed Watt's Javert canonically wears a fetish leather coat and gets to threaten Valjean with a giant gun and I'm quite sure that beneath that calm exterior he's got a thousand desires hidden. I love awkward pervert!Wattsvert, but I'd also be super into any other interpretation of him you come up with - one of the things I love most about this canon is seeing how different people interpret the characters! And as long as my two faves interact and there is smutty content, I'm going to be very very happy no matter what you choose to write, so whether it's consensual or dubconny Post-Seine kink exploration, M-s-M blackmail or Toulon noncon, or any variation in between, I love it all.
