Yes, poor Boromir. Both he and his brother (and, let's be honest, his father) got treated terribly in that adaptation.

That isn't to diss the skill of the actors - they were superb. And it's rather mystifying how much Sean Bean and David Wenham resemble each other.

hmm I could start a serious discussion on adaptations and what ones are acceptable/not but instead I will merely say I really liked this

Believe me, I considered a lot of adaptations and controversies over adaptations. In one draft, Katniss Everdeen asked why she was white, for example. I decided that it was getting unwieldy and dropped that.

Adaptation is definitely a hornet's nest, I do agree with that.
