Reasons I am lucky, #132
I was shy, smart, and socially inept throughout elementary and middle school. The only thing that changed for high school was that I was less shy.
But I was never bullied. Or if I was, it was hardly the systematic torment that countless other intelligent girls have experienced.
I have no idea how I was so fortunate to be in a school district with almost no bullying or fighting - because I cannot fathom how I would have escaped such if the inclination was there.
Thank you, my parents, for choosing well - and also for moving me to a small charter middle school, where I actually had more than three friends at a time.
