"Don't kiss me. Touch my hand."

Feel free to skip the following tirade.

I know writers are supposed to expect rejection and all that jazz.  But there are rejections and there are rejections.  The Friday before Memorial Day, I sent an email to the local newspaper asking the editor if they would be interested in publishing movie reviews.  I feel it would be a good way to both promote the local theaters and improve the paper (I didn't say that bit about improving the paper in my email).
The Monday after I sent the email, I got a response for the assistant editor saying that the editor was out of town and wouldn't be back until the next afternoon.  Okay.  I gave her two full weeks.  I didn't get any response.
Yesterday, I emailed her again simply asking if she had seen my initial email, and today I got a response.  It was basically: we use Associated Press reviews, but thanks for inquiring.
Well, gee, thanks.  Would it have broken your fingers to write that TWO WEEKS AGO?  I feel like emailing her back and saying: "you might be interested to know that the people I've talked to around here don't like the AP reviews because they are vacuous and are usually of movies that aren't showing anywhere near.  Oh, and by the way, thanks for setting me at liberty to contact other newspapers about writing reviews.  You know, ones that have better circulation and better writers."  But that would be petty and low.
But it really does irritate me that she had to wait over two weeks to send such a terse response.
