It's SGA Saturday-Sunday Circle time! In snapping pics of Lorne painting I couldn't help snapping the whole damned episode.
Sunday. A tale of a man on a quest to go fishing. (Really, he should have just dialed the Gate and asked Jack.)
Elizabeth, would you like to go fishing with my rooster-like hair?
Paint, Pretty Boy, Paint.
This is John's "I can't believe you forgot all about my boring Earth sport!" expression.
And then Teyla *lies*. She lies like a lying liar, but John is a sucker for her smile and lets her off the hook. Notice he doesn't die tragically in an explosion to make her feel guilty.
Instead he plays bendy golf with Ronon, who schools him in one-handed tee-offs.
Still, Ronon is...intrigued and invites John to play capture the flag.
"We just get the other guy's flag. That's it?"
"Yup. That's it."
Hahah Ronon's *face*.
"I hate this stupid game."
They go back to John's room, where John teaches Ronon the sport of crushing beer cans against his forehead and expressing sexual frustration. Unfortunately, their Earthean No-Ass is interrupted by tragedy.
Oh noes! Teyla!!!!They rush to discover...exploding tumors?
STUPID FUCKING ANCIENTS.
This is John and Rodney's "Please unlock the Tower, Carson. We're very fucking worried" expression. But to no avail, because Carson gets blowed up.
Ronon is sad.
Rodney is...not okay.
Teyla feels a great sadness.
John is in serious fucking denial.
Everybody is pretty damned sad.
Elizabeth needs to work on her eulogies. She does give them a lot, after all. Saying no one complained about him? Not really that complimentary. Although I kind of love that about her: she's awesome at diplomacy, but really crappy at sympathy.
Rodney and John suck it up.
Instead of having pall bearers, I think I'd like to be ejected through to a space gate via some kind of trebuchet.
Exploding tumors aside, this episode had so many excellent things going on: back stories on Lorne and Ronon! John's gossip conversation with Ronon re: possible sexual partners (John/Teyla? Ronon/John?) Ronon saying he wasn't ready. The playfulness between them. Teyla lying like a lying liar about "backed-up paperwork", and so very poorly it was hilarious. Her friendship with someone other than team (only to die tragically, thus showing her!) Elizabeth's flirtation with the hottie (only to end tragically, thus showing her!)
Rodney being so torn up about Carson; his scene with Ronon in Carson's room, and then with Carson on the dock. (although...'closest thing to a best friend I've ever had'? Really? Oh, writers, that's pretty pathetic revisionism right there. What show are you watching, anyway?)
End. Thanks for reading if you made it this far!
