IM3 kicks it - beware of spoilers

omg. finally got to see IM3 and was blown away.

I managed to avoid all spoilers before seeing it, and I'm so glad I did. The movie was an unfolding, subversive delight. Subversion all *over* the place! bwee!

Like:

There's actually a price for all those heroics. The relationship aspect of Tony's stress disorder wasn't well written, but that's for fanfic to fix. Otherwise, major kudos for having Tony fall apart and have it seriously affect his life.

The Mandarin! Crafted and staged to push America's buttons, and how much did I love Ben Kingsley's performance? God.

Tony saves himself against Killian not by being in the suit, but by using the suit. This is an important, subtle point after what Harley tells him about making things.

Pepper!!! Pepper saves Tony's bacon not once but twice, but more importantly: how pissed off she was at being called a trophy by Killian, and hers was the coup de grace. She got her just revenge on Killian for treating her like King Kong's Cracker Jack prize.

The anti-bonding moments between Tony and Harley: I about died. I could have watched an entire movie between them. Seriously. Not just because Tony is a kid at heart, but because it was like the awesomest Avenger's kidfic. :D

There were other moments that weren't subversive but just plain fucking awesome, like the skydiving chain, Rhodey and the prez, Rhodey shooting out the light and giving Tony that duh look, Happy waking up to Downton Abbey, and the fanboy in the news truck with the Tony tattoo based on the Tony doll. Adorbs.

So much fun. I have to go see it again when my eyeballs have recovered. Now that I've seen it, does anyone have any fic recs?
