7th June, early afternoonWoke up in the caravan feelin' a bit chilly this mornin', an' when I opened the door there was snow everywhere. Faith swore fer about five minutes over that, but once we'd got over the shock a bit we was right excited. Only problem was that we ain't got a lot of warm clothes fer us as we are now, but I reckoned we could

A sweet reunion with a friend or a brother
In all the places you find love it feels like Christmas
Woke up early this morning, just before sunrise... humming. There was a bite to the air that made me reach for a sweater before I realized what I was doing. When did I ever have a sweater? But it felt really... cozy. Then I looked outside. Wow. Just stood there watching the sun rise & the snow sparkle, like it was the first time I'd ever seen snow. And I just kept humming.
It's in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It's all the ways that we show love that feel like Christmas
I spent a few hours fiddling with wire & ended up making a few rings with different colored stones. Maybe I'll give one to Nu, or maybe Hope & Faith? Zann would like one, I think. And Dana. I wrap them up with a little shiny ribbon I just happened to have lying around. I find I'm smiling a little at the thought. With all the crap from a few months ago, it's nice to be able to... relax & do something for others, especially when they've helped me in the past.
A part of childhood we'll always remember
It is the summer of the soul in December
Yes, when you do your best for love it feels like Christmas
I grab my jacket & head out into the glistening snow, enjoying the crunch under my feet.

Decide to wander up towards the carousel, see if Zann's around, but catch sight of Hope resting on the bench. "Hey," I say with a wave, then remember she can't really see it anymore & put my hand down. "Some day, huh?"

"Some day, yeah. 'Ow you doin', luvvy? Ain't seen you fer a while." Think about 'ow that sounds and smile a bit. "Y'know what I mean."

Syl comes up smelling of cocoa & cinnamon & wearing the biggest grin I've seen on her in some time. "Helluva day, ain't't?" "No kidding," but I'm grinning back.
I look out at the carnivale - it's getting busier, but there doesn't seem to be a single frown in sight. "I've lived through some pretty weird weather, but snow in June?" I can't help but chuckle. "Wonder how long it'll last..." And I start humming again, that sweet song I didn't know I knew. Wonder where I heard it?

"Bin keepin' well," I say, an' I'm smilin'. "Spendin' quite a bit of time with Edmund as runs the bakery," an' I'm blushin' a bit but it ain't bad.
Recognise Syl's voice straight away, o'course, an' I smile.
"Wonder if it's magic," I say. "The snow, I mean. Still, don't seem bad, whatever it is, an' given what strange usually means in this town I'll take this over most o'that any day."

"Wonder if it's magic," I pause at that. "The snow, I mean." Oh. That. "Still, don't seem bad, whatever it is, an' given what strange usually means in this town I'll take this over most o'that any day."
Strange enough, yes, but could it actually be magic? It's possible - it does seem a little... perfect. But it's not malicious, if it is magic... I push my senses out a bit to see - I've been so reluctant (yeah, that's the word) since the mess a few months ago... feel my brow knit at the thought. The memory of remembering, of knowing I knew, for a brief moment... & then it was gone, as if it had never happened. Except it had & I knew it had, but I couldn't remember any of it! I push it back & focus on the here & now & I feel... something. So very fine & subtle. But not malicious, I think. And just a little familiar...
But I just shrug. "Could be," but I'm not bothered by it. Which might be odd. I hum a little more, sticking my hand in my pocket. Guess now's okay.
"Uhm," I start, standing. "So. I didn't really know you guys around, you know, Christmas. But I know you now, so..." I dig out a 3 rings from my pocket. The ribbon sparkles in the sunlight. "Consider it a thanks for... everything. You guys have been pretty decent to me, being a newcomer 'n all." Hand two to Hope, all reds & greens, "For you & Faith," & one to Syl, browns & purples. Can't tell if she likes it or not.

Silence seems t'agree wit' me. An'en she allova sudden looks shy. "Uhm So. I didn't really know you guys around, you know, Christmas. But I know you now, so...Consider it a thanks for... everything. You guys have been pretty decent to me, being a newcomer 'n all."
"Silence," I smile. "Ye're a member'a th'fam'ly. We've told ya that. Fam'ly takes care've'eir own." I look't th'ring. S'pretty deep vi'let'n brown, wound wit' ribbon. "Thank ya, Silence. S'really lovely."

"Ooh," I say, "thank you, lovey. What colours're they? Can't see myself until Faith comes back." An' then Syl's bein' sweet to 'er, sayin':
"Ye're a member'a th'fam'ly. We've told ya that. Fam'ly takes care've'eir own."
"Syl's right," I say. "Thank you fer the presents, love, but you didn't need to do nothin'. We like 'aving you around." Smile at 'er. Sniff the air a bit. "Syl, you eatin' a funnel cake? Want to share it?" Smile at 'er. Feel so good t'day. Think in a bit I'll ask Faith t'walk me over to see Edmund.

"Silence," Turn back around to see Syl's smiling. "Ye're a member'a th'fam'ly. We've told ya that. Fam'ly takes care've'eir own."
"You're like family to me."
"Thanks, Sil." Wait, that's not right. Why'd I call her that? "I mean Syl. I mean-" Shake my head a little. Gotta focus. "It's been a while, I guess. Since I've had... you know, family." It makes me feel warm to say it.
And Syl's smiling. "Thank ya, Silence. S'really lovely." And Hope's smiling. "Thank you fer the presents, love, but you didn't need to do nothin'. We like 'aving you around." And I made them smile. How about that.
"I'm glad you like them," is all I can think of to say.
