Karina and Maryk's home,
Evening of Day 83
The house is clean, as it always is, but there are candles about, all lit up and bringing a warmth to the house that you can only get from such things. Lena has cooked all day, things we couldn't possibly get from Edmund. There was an order from Edmund, too, which has already been picked up and set out on its table. I monitored the lights until Lena finished setting out the food, then she took on the job in addition to all else she does.
My woman of clay and mud, who will never have thoughts of her own. I shake the thought free from my head and smile up at Maryk, who sits beside me on the Victorian-styled couch.
I'm about to speak when there is a knock on the front door. Lena moves without having to be told and I rise, smoothing the skirt of my
dress with one hand while tugging Maryk to a stand with the other. I grin up at him then turn to greet our guests.
