[The now-smoking chunk of the park, Thursday, noon, July 30th (day 50)]
[Continued from
here]Fiona and Kitty stopped by to see Miss Kaeli to see how she was, as did Zann. The four of them went out for a picnic lunch in the park, and all was good, and then Djinn crashed the party. He went after Fiona and taunted Kitty into breaking the binding on

"...make it stop make it stop I want Daddy..."
It was Zann who saved me flying through fire like magic but it still hurts and it's not going away make it stop I want Daddy...

I place my hands lightly, carefully on Zann and close my eyes, everything runs slow but it still runs, from the ground to me into her. I cry as my skin heats and bubbles, not from fire now but from light I can't hold it now, and just moving it makes the fire inside me stir and fight. But I feel her skin cool and then heal and her heartbeat becomes normal and she is still marked inside by those flames but its just a mark.
She moans again or maybe its a sigh or maybe its mine, but their no longer welded skin to skin and I can fix the rest when we're away. "Terexia," I call in a firmer tone. I run a finger lightly along the side of her head clearing the cloud in her mind, "Time to go, we need to leave, now." That thing will come for us if it gets through the others and its not getting these two.

Oh, you foolish man, as a mortal's challenge lands him in a pool that is now dead and bubbling in heat.
Flames surround the angel, his beating wings seem to keep a blaze from starting, but still they rise around him.
This Djinn of spite will not be happy without death. Let him have one then.
I run towards him.

"You think it will be that easy?" I squeeze a bit harder as I let a little bit of life drain away. "For you I will let your mind show you all the things I am doing to your companions. Sometimes the mind can show you great things, more so that is reality. I will let you listen to the sounds your companions make when I go through them one by one. I will do this by taking your eyes, little one, and leaving your ears to be your true torturer." I laugh again as I raise my arm slowly and wiggle my clawed fingers to heighten the beast's anticipation before I take its sight.

When it is complete, I slowly rise from the water with my eyes glowing and focused on the monster. It now has a child in its arms ready to strike. No time to waste, I run over as quickly as the light that creates this body allows me. Taking my sword, made of the same powers as this armor, I strike down upon the monster's arm before it does any harm to the child. Sparks fly as it slices through it and lava begins to pour slightly from its dismembered wound. When the arm hits the ground it bursts into flames for a moment and disappears. I focus my energy and light shoots from the sword into its wound.

And then a knight strides from the pool the mortal died (died?) in, sheathed in light and bearing a sword. He strikes its arm from its body. He may be able to stop this. But I have been active too long, and must end this quickly that I may retreat again into us. *breathe in* *breathe out* And the hammer comes down in a long *whoosh* of air, striking the creature in the head - just as the bell stills and the wings settle and something slides into a long hollowed space. Too close, and even so He may have noticed. Our mortal skill will drive it off, though I would wish dearly to strike that final blow.

If you see a pyro tech running, keep up.
I look back over my shoulder, once, and oh fuck the lights. And then I'm stumbling forward and the moving helps, stiff gears easing into motion, friction warming grease, and the stink of burning's somewhere behind me and we just go.

I sway a little under the added weight of Fiona in my arms and Zann leaning on me, but we balance and we go, go back to the school. Into the building we stumble and I lean then slide down the wall, shaking while I rock the burnt baby in my arms. "I..I'll fix it, Zann. In a minute...I'll fix it," I say quietly.

Light.
It shines forth and swings beside me, dropping to the ground I gasp air through bruised throat and look up just in time to see a hammer drop right on the djinn's head. An absurd laugh falls from my throat, pain flaring once more.

"Thank you good sir for your assistance!" I
look over to where Lady Kaeli ran with the rest and run over to see if they need any assistance. I run to the school house and run inside accidentally grazing the sides and top of the door way. "Ooops!" I whip around quickly looking at the damage as my feet push through the floor as if I'm treading through a swamp. "Ahhh!" Looking at the group, I make my over, now trying to quick high step it to Kaeli I yell quickly, "I am here for your assistance! Do not fear!" I lay the child down next to them and put my hand on lady Kaeli and ask, "Are you all all right?"

Someone's been burnt. Stench of it fills the air, but no one's screaming or dead. Look around helplessly. Don't know what's happened, why I'm here, or why there are feathers, dark and grey, clinging to my clothes.
Head back to the butcher's. Need to talk to someone about this. Soon.

"I am here for your assistance! Do not fear!"
--what the fuck?
It puts Kitty down and bends over to touch Kaeli and says "Are you all all right?" It's--he's, I think--shining like metal on clean steel, and the doorway's all ragged, and there's people kind of starting to collect on Main Street outside, way way on the other side of the street and down a bit at a safe distance but still there and looking.
This, of course, is when I realize that my skin--hell, I'm not even blistered. And my hair's mostly ( ... )

This light creature is Sid?
I wince from the pain and nod, wiping blood from my nose, "She says she'll fix it all, would you please prop up the damn door!" I try to focus my eyes and look at Zann trying to cover herself and then over at the open doorway as Sid leans the door back in the jamb. "S'clothes in my room upstairs Zann," I mumble, distractedly. "Take what you need."
"Sid," I murmur holding out my hand, "I need your help..and you light, I don..don't have any anymore."

Wincing as we enter the schoolhouse to breaking wood, I sit up when the being places me beside Kaeli. Looking closely, her energies sputter and flare.
"Sid, I need your help..and you light, I don..don't have any anymore."
I lean against her back, take one hand and start stroking from top to bottom. Soot both physical and energy staining is clinging to her. Closing my eyes, I picture fur being cleaned and groomed into place. Top to bottom, up to down. Stroke, align, smooth.

I look over my shoulder cleverly trying to throw them off, "Sid? I don't see a Sid but I can help you in his place, Lady Kaeli..errr...ma'am.." She holds her hand out to me as she says this expecting me to put light in it. She's always been very strange indeed. I don't want to hurt her feelings, so I humor her by reaching out to place my hand over hers, "There you go. Some 'light' just for you."
