I wish I could say that I was in a better mood. I wish I could be a bigger man, and could have completely forgotten about Wanda's dalliance, but that mark on her shoulder glares out at me against her pale skin, reminding me I now must share her with another. To have had to share with Jamie..... That I could understand. That I could live with. And yes, I'm a fuckin' hypocrite. She more than willingly shares me with Miao.
But Miao's not a God.
Did finally go home Friday night. Told her about what happened with Jamie, and after she got over her horror and shock, and asking me a million times if I were alright, I had to stop her from flying out the door to kill Edith herself. After I managed to get the murder out of her eyes, I tried to coax her out to the Tavern, but she declined, remembering it was market day the next day and she was planning to open at 9am instead of 11am.
So here I am, hiding in my office, still trying to reconcile myself to everything that's happened. Restless, I start rummaging through my desk in the back office. There's a secret compartment in the one drawer, and I hid my contract in there. The drawer locks, and it seemed like a good, safe spot, but I haven't checked on it since I put it in there. I find the latch, pop it, slide my hand in..........
nothing.
There nothing in there. My hand rests on smooth, empty wood.
I rip the drawer for the desk, knowing a panic that I haven't known in years, tearing through the rest of the desk, throwing books and papers and pens, fuck! Where the hell is it????????
Wanda.
The realization hits me like a sledgehammer to the chest.
"Oh Wanda, no, no...... No Kitten. You didn't........" I whisper, closing my eyes against the pain of yet another betrayal.
"We just have to remember to forgive one another."
My eyes ignite, the demon screaming for her blood. He very well may get it for this.
