waters of mars; instant reaction

I'm going to be honest, I wasn't convinved for the first half of the episode. It just seemed like an ordinary Dr. Who, not special enough to be a standalone and definitely lacking in Doctor! Seriously he was just...watching things happen?

And then, omg. I don't believe how... disturbing it was watching ten just lose it. I mean that's some heavy duty crazy, it's understandable that he snapped but I think the moments that broke me were...

"You know, little people". That's so not a ten thing to say!
And, that really agressive, "tough".

I thought Adelaide was amazing, I love how the doctor always attracts people with this capacity for self-sacrifice... it was a bit of the bravery and personal strength Lady Christina lacked in Planet of the Dead, but I suppose it was her atypicality that made her interesting last time.

A note about the trailer, too, so shallow but - I am SO disappointed the Master is wearing a tracksuit and has horrible facial hair :( He needs to be all charismatic and sexy! And that skull special effect is just... lame. Seriously lame.
More coherent, thought out reflections tomorrow, after I've listened to the audio commentary tonight. Also coming on Tuesday, the second (overdue) part of my Lucy/Master trilogy.
