First week.

Ok, the italic bits are emails to mum, and there is a googlemaps thingy I made to show you where I'm on about right here.

Sunday: How many freebies?
Yup, lots of them... For those who I haven't told already (and those I have but forgot) our Student's Union is plonked in two buildings at the centre of campus.  Union South is usually what people mean by the union though. The ground floor has all the bank bits, oxfam, insurance etc clustered outside the main room, aka the Marketplace. The marketplace generally is a bit nuts, it has a stage and a place for people to dance in the centre, the club (the cooler) is next to it. Upstairs is a balcony that lets you look down on the stage/dancefloor. There's also a bar (Cholo), a cafe place (not been in), South central (amazing jacket potatoes, also do paninis, sandwiches, pizza slices etc), pool tables and the abbey cash machine.
On sunday it was stuffed, the marketplace giving out freebies from various stands and the cooler had a poster sale as well as being the place you brought the freshers t-shirts and got a goodie pack. Upstairs there were less stalls, but the shop (Advance) had a huge que where people were collecting their fresher's cards. Just to prove what I meant about huge amount of freebies...

Freebies list:
Wilkinson's (standardised): Spatula, magnetic word game, sweets, all the stuff every other wilkinson's stall across the country gave out...
bpas (most useful): re-freshers, sweets, five colour highlighter (flower!), vouchers (yay!) useful leaflets (wtf?), mid-size post-its.
AA driving school (coolest): sweet little car shaped jelly babies and a fluffy thing with a face and a huge label! You know, like those fluffy ladybirds?
Boots (practical): vouchers (thank god), membership card.
Rileys: pool club membership, vouchers + t-shirt for £1. as the t-shirt was vacuum packed that thoroughly it bounced in its triangle shape if you dropped it...
various: sweets, leaflets, pens, keyrings, useful bags.
Freshers (most random award): Luxury peppercorn sauce (for beef casserole, I mean wtf?), smash (mashed potato), baked beans (I only got a little one!), vegetable gravy granules (instead of a big tin of baked beans), bottle opener (for fanta...), mini calendar, stickers (which don't fit on calendar)

That night I went to the sunday showcase, a taster of everything that goes on in the week club/music wise in the union. Score! was good, discoy slightly cheesy stuff that is danceable to, but naturally that ended as soon as me/matt/becky went down to dance, replaced by "top Banana" which is your normal club, not that interesting but okay. I found the screens more interesting, they were showing texts that people sent them, some were funny ^_^. Went home earlyish though.

Monday: Induction meeting, seeing tutors, getting recognised as being on facebook by half the people there o_0. Learning how the oven worked by trial and error, poor pizza...

Also had the lakeside induction meeting and met Flat 13 (diagonally up). After our free drink (orange) me, becky, matt and tom went to their kitchen and talked/drank cups of tea until 11ish. It was great, we got onto mock the week several times and just had a lot of laughter while relaxing.

Tuesday: Lectures began! My professor for Relativity is mark Newton *grins* he confirmed that he was NOT related to Sir Isaac, but the urban myth is that he's from the sister's family. It was really interesting. I also discovered that I can walk from Lakeside to Math/Stats block (other side of campus horizontally) in 15ish mins. Most people were horrified to find out I already had work ^_^', two sets of q's to hand in on mon. Yes, we had phys foundations in the maths building.
I also went round the societies fair with some friends I made in physics, and as there were four of us all joining LARPS at once the president (also Lizzie) came over and hugged all of us, she was that happy.

The societies fair was fun though, nearly everywhere was giving out haribo (though I got a red fluffy thing from the library to go with the AA driving school's yellow one) and leaflets. I ended up joining 3 clubs then.
Anime and Manga, which I kind of wish I hadn't done.
LARPS, Live action role play society, ie. running around in the woods with foam/latex swords/staffs/bows killing 'goblins' and other enemies.
New writing, self explanatory right?

Food: I had another pizza, took about 20 mins at a really high temp, but it wasn't QUITE so much of a disaster.

Wednesday: Exhaustion...

"I ended up having my day taken up with stuff. Between the lectures I was going round the society fair so I didn't manage lunch, then I was asked to help look at a bookshop after the lecture overran and so there wasn't enough time to go back to lakeside and grab a sandwich before archery so I had a baked potato with BBQ chicken.

Archery was amazing ^_^ it was so good to have a bow back in my hand. Thing is it's near westwood, so way away. Then I walked back to lakeside and sat down for two minutes before tom asked me and matt if we wanted to go to tescos, which I needed to. So that was a walk all the way BACK past westwood (same road) and a bit  further, round the HUUGE tescos and walking back.

After that I pretty much collapsed at my computer... So that baked potato combined with walking means I haven't cooked yet. i may be getting some bread and butter pudding though..."

The bread and butter pudding was lovely (matt's a good cook) but I preferred the chili con carne (Tom + Matt joint effort).  I really do need to do that interactive map thing, so you actually know where the heck I'm going on about... I also got LOTS of final fantasy music from Matt, YAY! I gave him a fair bit too though.

Thursday: 9'o clock lecture *groans* I actually slept through my alarm for the first time EVER. Thankfully I set it two hours early. In the afternoon I had a diagnostic test *dun dun duuuh!* which sets out my seminar classes etc. And yes, the feet were still killing me.

"Feet always kill.. but not nearly so much as yesterday. Plus I didn't really to too much archery so my arms are fine. I am getting faster at walking though, only took me 6 mins instead of 8 to get to the ramphal building today.

The Maths test was ok, not good, not bad, but not having a calculator, even for the really simple stuff, was really annoying, you know what my mental maths is like. I think I did okay though. I also slept straight through my alarm today for the first time ever, set for 7 woke up at 20 to 8 and thought I still had 20 minutes before I realised.

Yay! Low blood pressure is good! And so was the bolognaise, though I think i put in too much tomato pickle it was still nice, cancelled it out with pepper because it was really sharply tangy.^_^' "

I'll probably have some of the bolognaise for dinner tonight. However after that the flu/cold REALLY kicked in. I felt horrible and slunk off to bed eventually.

Friday: No lectures! Purely because the seminar things hadn't been sorted out yet. I took advantage of that and had a looong lie in, then when I wasn't feeling quite so shit due to cold/flu I went to see Emma in coventry (who went to BVC). However first I went and got cash from cash machine, came out of the SU, saw the bus, ran for it... and it pulled away. So I turned around, went to union north, signed up for membership in warwick game design, went out, realised the next bus was going over the crossing when I was waiting to go across...

I managed to catch that one, but they needed exact change for the machine so I had to ask a passenger for change ^_^''. After that it went okay....ish. Just to clarify, I did NOT get lost. I may have got off two or three stops too early but I was not lost, I knew I was in the grand arcade after Emma told me...

So after THAT little mix-up we got back to hers, talked, mocked the 4-kids-esque band (they clean songs like 4kids clean cartoons, but to a slightly lesser extent normally), and had the bolognaise SHE made. Nothing like mine, most of hers came in a bottle. It was tasty though, however because we were waiting for people who didn't show up we ate late so I was going back when it was really dark. I only got back to the SU bus stop at 9.

Another girl was going to Heronbank when I was going to lakeside though, and we were both glad of the company as we took the shortcut path. Oh yes, I haven't got the map up yet so that means very little... Okay. Heronbank and Lakeside are about 8 mins walk from central campus (the Ramphal building is the closet one) using a path that winds and comes out opposite the Ramphal building. from there it's 1/2 mins to the student union.

Saturday: got up 11.20 (I love being lazy), made a toasted cheese sandwich, let tom copy my relativity notes, went through a few problems,  went to second hand book fair, realised there were no phys textbooks left, went to bookshop, found no sets of maths/phys books left, panicked, found you could buy them as a set even if they were separate (thank god), bought them, came back feeling like I was carrying lead in my bag, sat at computer, talked to people, started writing Lj.

I'm also planing to battle the shower again, and yes battle IS the right word...

"My shower is actually a dragon. Turn it to the wall and it will turn back to soak you. You have to turn it a way to get warmth and it actually rears up! (due to water inside pipe) Having a shower itself is something like showering under a waterfall... "

You get the idea I think. I also am GOING to scan in that map to start making the interactive one... and eat of course...
I think this LJ post is quite long enough, don't you think?
