My little sister has told me off for not posting enough.
Basically I had the best weekend of life.
First off the weather is beyond amazing, I do not want to return to an AUssie winter. Saturday was awesome, I did a tour of the Opera Garnier, the opera house where phantom of the opera was set. It was cool, and I was really lucky and got to actually go into the theatre because it was one of those rare occasions when there wasnt a rehersal going on.
I did good retail therapy buying up presents for the family
Weather was still awesome so I wandered around the Tulleries gardens until the sound of the fontains made me want to go swimming so bad I was homesick.
Then I treated myself to THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE in the world. Its like drinking hot chocolate from the story of chocolat. I only needed to meet Johnny Depp to complete the experience, but settled for a peice of wonderful white chocolate cheesecake. Im drooling at the memory. It was in a tea house called Angelinas on rue de Rivoli, the hot chocolate was a chocolate syrup that you stirred whipped cream into. I fear Bracegirdles has been ruined forever for me.
Then I wandered and did tourist things and went home where I decided the day had been too perfect to end yet so planned to go to this awesome pedestrian bridge on the Siene with some wine to watch the sunset. It was then that I got a drunken phonecall from Alex! Very amusing.
So I grabbed my wine and headed to the bridge. Its this strange social hangout, so there were hoards of large groups of people picnicing with wine and bread and cheese and guitars. All went fine until I got up to leave. Let me paint a picture, I was the only one on the bridge without friends to share the moment with, everyone had seen me drinking a bottle of wine on my own, it was half gone when I started but they didnt know that, and I was holding a plastic bag. They all saw me stack it when I got up to leave. They all thought I was a sad loner drunk. I actually fell because my leg had fallen asleep, it had NOTHING to do with wine. It was the most embarassing moment of my life!
But I decided the day had been too perfect to end on such a note and decided to go out. Personal development points for not letting it get to me and also for going out without hair or makeup and not being bothered by it.
Then, highlight of the night, I managed to sweet talk my way into a club past a huge queue and a €10 entry fee! And check it out, no flashing of tits required, I did it by speaking French to the bouncer!!!
Admittadly its not quite the acheivement it sounds. I told him (but in French) that I was with a contiki group inside, who I happened to know get in for free, and so an essential part of the plan would be for me to act like the tourist I am and not have perfect French, but still! It was very cool.
And I met a French boy, but we wont talk about that unless he actually calls me.
I cant wait to come home, but in the meantime I have train tickets to Amsterdam with my brother and his girlfriend who are coming to visit!
