Quentin/Tre Get An Update Of Their Own
Since rainjewel is off on her way across the country to koneko41's, I'm leaving you all with an update.
It's only half of the log because I haven't posted anything for Q in so long that I convinced Emily to let me post what we have finished. The rest will get done once we find the time.

This is the most revealing that Q's been, which is more surprising than it should be given how trashed he is and the generality that people ARE pretty open when they're that far gone. But even though he's thinking about what a bad idea it was he did it, and he let his guard down a little around Tré. (Who is fucking adorable, btw.) Actually, more than a little with the urge to mark b/c it is a lot more about the possession than the pain, and Q's taste runs a lot more to the latter normally.
I giggled most of the way through the blowjob (would you guys SHUT UP already and let Tré do his thing?! It's not the best time for a conversation!).
Nothing in the world gets under Quentin's skin like that flash of fear in the eyes of the person he's with, because that flash of fear comes with a tangible amount of trust. This is the way Quentin likes to receive his trust and it has a lot to do with why he always pushes so hard, wanting the fear so he can get what comes with it.
^That right there explains sooooooooooooooooo much about him as a person and about his typical sexual practices. Which makes it even more perfect that he's deviating sharply from his norm by marking Tré.
As for Tré, I think there's a whooooole bunch of things going on in his (slightly vacuous atm) head. He thinks specifically about one of them: Mr. Big and Scary is little more than Mr. Scared and Lonely. I also loved how he hid the tequila and his reasoning behind that - the mention of those kinds of problems in his own past, and his awareness that it either could be or is a problem for Q. He finally agrees to let Q burn him and I think it's in part because in his addled state, he thinks it won't hurt so much (soverywrong) and because the prize - making Quentin be soft - seems worthwhile. He's pushing Q as much as Q's pushing him, only in different arenas and different directions.
There's also the layer of Tré simply enjoying being pushed. Despite his amiableness, he's a strong personality and a famous one, which is overwhelming for a lot of people. Most would probably be hesitant to really push him. And maybe he's also curious about his own limits - where his hard line is going to be in any given encounter, what's incentive enough to make it shift, as it did here when he traded a kiss/blowjob for a cigarette burn. I'm definitely, definitely looking forward to the aftermath and what happens next!

I'm more proud of this log than I have been of anything else I've posted for Quentin. It was easy to show how much of an asshole he is (and so much fun!!!!!), but this log was the first time I had the chance to work in some reasons for why he's an asshole. I was finally allowed to show the reader why I don't hate him and it was as fun as letting him just run rampant.
The paragraph you quoted was the one that I hoped people would pay attention to so it makes me so happy you picked it out. Maybe it's dumb of him to only want trust in that way, but there's reason for that (which will be explained later). But the point is is that he'd rather receive that trust from the guys he fucks because the way he approaches sex doesn't allow for any intimacy with the trust. And he doesn't usually have to see the guys again.
*got all wibbly to the MAX writing the part where Q jerked Tre off* Quentin was in SUCH a weird state in my head and I've literally never seen him so close to being intimate in this universe. I wanted to ask him what he was doing but I didn't want to ruin the moment.
And Tre! TRE! I ADORE TRE! Miss Emily-Face is so fucking amazing at writing him that it makes my head hurt. And not in the 'words-on-the-screen' kind of way, though she's awesome at that (omg the potato line KILLS ME) but in the way that she has him so figured out. Sure he's easy-going, but there's so much more to him and you keep getting glances of that.
The line about his past, about how he would hide Mike's alcohol and Mike would hide his drugs... oh my heart HURTS for some reason when Emily includes stuff about drugs. Tre has such a strong personality and he never goes halfway with anything and there's such potential for BAD when you mix in drugs.

Dude, honestly, Tre is just retarded easy for me to write or he's not there. Mike I know inside and out. Tre might as well be a fucking ghost. It comes and goes, the little fucker. Joey is amazing as always, because Quentin is in her head. ALWAYS. And he's fucking BRILLIANT. *loves him and her*
