You might be interested to know that I was picked for "Member of the Month" on the German Lolita site
Dunkelsuess. Its a random selection, but still pretty damn cool! I had to do a short interview, which rmsmaelstrom translated into German for me.

Dunkelsuess Member of the Month, June 2011
I am 28 years old. I live in Dormagen, NRW, though I am originally from England I have been living in Germany for nearly two years. I am engaged to Rebecca Magdalena, and we have been together seven years. I work freelance as a model.
My favourite Lolita style is Gothic Lolita, I also like EGA and Dandy, and my favourite brand is Moi-même-Moitié
When and where did you see the fashion for the first time?
I probably saw the fashion on the internet some years ago but I think I saw it for the first time in person at Japantag last year (2010). I was introduced to it properly last summer when my girlfriend, who is a photographer, was looking for alternative fashion models to photograph for her portfolio, and she found harlyharlekin (who has since become a great friend ^_^)
What fascinated you about it in the beginning?
My journey into Lolita is certainly not a typical one. I created a character for a story who wore Gothic Lolita, and not knowing anything about the fashion I went on the internet to find out more. I inevitably found Mana. At the same time my girlfriend had started listening to Malice Mizer, so I was faced with an overload of Mana, and I quickly got totally hooked by his style. I found it very original and beautiful. I had always loved Gothic Fashion but I was getting a little bored with it, and Gothic Lolita made me fall in love with it again. Although I loved the aesthetic, I did not imagine I would start to wear Lolita myself. It took some persuasion from my friends for me to consider something so radically different for me.
Since when did you wear this fashion?
I had worn Dandy style for many years without knowing it was a recognised style. I started wearing Lolita in autumn last year.
What was your first real Lolita Item?
Moi-même-Moitié Lace Design skirt that I bought second-hand through a sales community on livejournal. Prior to that I had got a dress off Ebay, which turned out to be a Mary Magdalene replica and a badly made one at that, so it was never really worn. Fortunately we got a refund.
What does Lolita mean to you?
It's a very different way for me to express myself as a person and an artist. As a model I had mainly specialised in pinup work, which I still love, still do and I am proud of it, but it's obviously not a style I could ever use in daily life, it only works in front of a camera. With Lolita, it is something very personal to me, that I am not wearing for a job, it's entirely my own thing. I find it very rewarding to put together coords, to wear the outfits out. Wearing such gorgeous clothes makes me feel good about myself, and I'm doing something that's more original than mainstream fashion.
What style would you never wear and why not?
I would not wear 99% of most Sweet pieces (though there are a couple I love and would wear), and I would definitely never wear OTT Sweet. I don't dislike the style in itself, it's great on the right person, but I am not the right person for it. I wore Sweet Lolita once, when harlyharlekin loaned me her blue Sugary Carnival coord for a style swap, and although I quite liked how it looked, I felt it really didn't suit my personality.
Your funniest Lolita dream?
I don't ever remember what I dream, I don't know if I have had a Lolita-related dream.
What do the people around you think of this hobby?
I have never really had any negative reactions. My girlfriend of course loves it. My parents think it's really pretty, but I doubt they would be so enthused if they knew how much things cost! All my friends think it's great too.
People in the street sometimes stop to ask about the fashion and want to take photos. I have had the odd "It's not Carnival yet!" comment, but I ignore that.
What do you do out of Lolita?
I enjoy modelling, for work and for fun, I like thinking up concepts for new photoshoots. Otherwise, I like writing and singing. I am trying to learn more German. I like meeting up with my friends, visiting new places. And of course I love spending time with my girlfriend.
What do you want for your birthday?
Probably the same as most birthdays - money, so I can choose what I want to buy with it. And cake, cake is always good ^__^ !
