Today is Coming Out Day in the UK, and even though I do not live there, I was unable to post yesterday and I thought it would be the perfect excuse to discuss something I've been meaning to for quite a while: things the media try to tell us are heterosexual while cashing in on their obvious gayness.
You know when you watch a show, or read a book, or see a celebrity, and it is very painfully obvious that this person/character/story/relationship is a gay one? But when confronted with this issue the author, or producers or publicity team try to convince you that you're imagining things, that this is entirely heterosexual?
Well I'm damn sick of it! These things are gay. I am not blind. I am not stupid. I am not afraid. And with your help I would like to bring these things out of the closet. So please comment with something in the public eye that you know is gay, but have been told to think otherwise. It can be your favorite slash ship, a song, a celebrity, a product, or really anything you can think of. Drag it all out of the closet! Comment with as many different things, or as many times as you like. This meme will not end once Coming Out Day is over. Anon commenting had been enabled.
I'll go first. This dance is from Season 7 of So You Think You Can Dance. The first minute is the bullshit intro package trying to convince you this is just about two good friends. The next two minutes are the beautiful and absolutely GAY dance number.
I am not blind. This is gay! ETA: Pimp this with all your gay pride might!
